Carleton First Year Architecture

Rezidenza Alta Vista was inspired by Italian architecture. Many of my units are clumped together creating a tight environment for anyone living there.

We were required to put 3 programs, a daycare, convenience store, and a library. The way my units are oriented creates a massive courtyard divided by greenery. The units trace the sites perimeter, mainly facing inward producing a sheltered area for residents, shielded from outside noise.

I was also inspired by the refuge prospect theory which means people tend to feel safer having a wall against their back and being able to see in front of them.

We were asked to design a community for students and family on an unused plot of land.

The main idea of my project was to design a dense environment for people to socialize and grow close with each other.

This project asks to select a cube that fits a specific case study assigned to each group. My group was given the Copper House II by Studio Mumbai.

We were then told that there is a site in Ottawa where our design should be placed.

My cube project fit perfectly as a base since there were already similarities between my project and Copper house II.

Our task was to turn my cube into a habitable space that takes inspiration from the case study given, and make it fit onto the site with attention to weather and surroundings.

The professors asked to submit a redesign of the courtyard outside the architecture building.

The main idea of this project was to create a canopy with a large amount of trees to give the outside more life.

This is where I observed different objects around the architecture building. I drafted the object and details with measurements included.

This Project asks to discover a cube design by creating voids inside the cube. There was a list of restrictions and rules that must be followed. Imagination and creativity were heavily emphasized by the professors during this assignment.
